paris is burning

Paris is Burning is a right of passage. I saw it for the first time in the 90s when I was a young teen and it had a deep and lasting impact on me. I have rewatched it countless times since and every time I watch it I come away with a new insight. One of the most beautiful things to me about this documentary is how it highlights the tenacity, courage and ingenuity of people who make magic out of literally nothing but their imaginations, bravery and will to bring magic to life. It’s fucking poetry.
